 Forum for Legislative Proposals
 The FOIA
Council would like to make itself available to interested
parties as a forum for legislative proposals involving FOIA
or other access-related issues, as a sort of legislative preview.
Legislators, government agencies, or any other interested
party may present ideas about amendments to FOIA at the FOIA
Council's regular meetings. By acting as a forum, the FOIA
Council hopes that all persons interested in proposed FOIA
amendments will be informed of these proposed amendments well
in advance of the next session of the General Assembly. It
is the hope of the FOIA Council that the various interest
groups will use the legislative preview as a springboard to
discuss the proposed amendments outside of the press of the
General Assembly session to address issues and possibly reach
compromises on the proposed amendments. The FOIA
Council will not automatically study or adopt any of the proposed
suggestions. However, the FOIA Council may decide on a case-by-case
basis that a particular proposal warrants its further study
                    or discussion. |
