While FOIA contains over 100 exemptions for records and meetings, many of these exemptions apply to specific agencies or to very fact-specific records and discussions. There are, however, several records and meetings exemptions of general applicability, which can be used by virtually all public bodies. These exemptions are also often the ones most frequently utilized by public bodies.
